Life is lovely.

Assalaamu Alaykum!
Thank you AlabasterMuslim for getting me back on the ball here and updating everyone with what's been going on. I started my internship last Monday and just LOVE it! I get to work with the homeless and I really feel that they make more of an impact in my life than I ever could in theirs. The organization I'm interning at is a religious Christian based organization. Every Monday at approx. 10 AM they have chapel time to sit together and pray and take the host. It's optional, but I still went to see what it was like. I didn't take the host myself, but I really loved being apart of the prayer circle. It was so peaceful.
My schedule for now is Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 3:00. I will have to work more hours at some point because I just cannot meet the 400 hour requirement with those hours alone. Most of the work I'm doing is visiting clients homes (who were homeless before entering the transitional housing program) and talking with them about steps they need to take to get back on their feet financially, emotionally, physically, etc. Whatever they need to better themselves, I am there to help them (of course, along side my supervisor). Did I already mention that I love it there?? Alhamdullilah!
On to other news. . .which I'm sure some of you have been waiting to hear. Am I pregnant or not? The answer is. . .a BIG FAT NO! Darn. . .I know, right? Well, I was a little disappointed, but not to the extent I thought I would be. Alhamdullilah for everything. Guess we'll just have to wait until my husband gets back from Morocco in October before we try again. I'll try and focus right now on getting into better shape. Lord knows I need to!! Getting married ain't no joke on the body. LoL Why is it that most of us women gain weight once we get married? There's no good excuse, but I let it happen to me.
Oh, also my sister and I are working on our photography business. Yay!! I'm so excited about this. She's been doing photography professionally for a few years now (you can check out her site at jeninaphotography.com), but I've always loved photography as well! Now that I'm back in town we can begin the business together. . .we came up with the name Bella Sorella Photography! Still in the very beginning stages, but, insha'allah, it will all go smoothly for us. Check out some pictures I took recently of my sister and her husband:

That is all my lovies!

  3. Layla,
Yes indeed that is my sister. We are 15 months apart. . .she's older. Ameen to your dua for her!!!

    Jess,
It's true. There's this special feeling you get when you willingly help others!
Did you just start getting back into shape? I'm not really big on diets so I'm going to start out by eliminating sugar as much as I can. . .I'm seriously a sugar addict! It's horrible!! Oh, and exercise when I can. That will be the hard one for me.
