Day Two: A picture of you and the person you've been closest with the longest.

Mia madre. My mother. How could she not be the person that has been closest to me for the longest? She has been taking care of me for 25 years now. She shows me love no matter the circumstances and she lets me be who I want to be with no judgement, even if it means being someone she never expected me to be (Muslim). My mother is the strongest woman I know.
In 2003 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Never did she give up. Although the chemo treatments left her weak and sickly, she was always able to put on a smile and laugh with me. After we all thought her cancer was gone, it showed up again. This time, in her brain. We were all sure it would be the end, but her fight was strong and now she is cancer free, once again. This time, she is cancer free for 5 years, alhamdulillah.
Truly, she is the love of my life.

Let's never forget the following:

A man came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Who from amongst mankind warrants the best companionship from me? He replied: "Your mother." The man asked: Then who? So he replied: "Your mother." The man then asked: Then who? So the Prophet replied again: "Your mother." The man then asked: Then who? So he replied: "Then your father." (Sahih Bukhari 5971)
