Day Ten: A picture of your most treasured item.

(Photo taken from here)

Books. Words. Crisp pages. Another world to dive into. My most treasured item(s) are most definitely my books and my library card! Reading has been a long time passion of mine. I can remember in elementary school being most excited when it came time for the book fair or all the reading contests. Just being able to see life from another persons point of view in such a vulnerable way truly helps me to appreciate life and those around me much more than I could without reading. If you ask me to list all my favorite books, I would be here forever. At the moment, I am most interested in reading about the lives of those in unfortunate circumstances such as wars, addictions, etc. I love to read about those who live in the Middle East and see life through their eyes. Yesterday I finished reading Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail by Malike Oufkir. It takes place in Morocco and draws the reader into her life living in the palace at a young age then being forcefully taken (along with her mother, siblings, and two devoted women) to inhumane conditions of prison. It was heartbreaking and inspiring. I am excited to continue on her journey through her other novel, Freedom: The Story of My Second Life.
